MT. MAYNOBA (CAYABU-MAYNOBA LOOP) – 728 MASL
Tanay, Rizal
Trailhead: Brgy. Cayabu, Tanay, Rizal
Days required / Hours to summit: 1 day / 2-3 hours
Specs: Minor hike, Difficulty 3/9 (Summit); 4/9 (Loop hike), Trail class 1-4
Features: Sea of clouds, scenic views of the Sierra Madre, Waterfalls.

This is one of the  mountain with the highest success rate of viewing the sea of clouds of all the Rizal mountains, Mt. Maynoba was a hit from its opening as a hiking destination in early 2016. I was invited by my friend Jackie to join the climb last June 05, 2016.

The trail to the summit is steep at times, but manageable and easy.

Tip: Bring sun protection – MAINIT SOBRA!

The hike down the waterfalls is more challenging  and increasing the difficulty to 4/9 .

The entire experience was fun.Nakakapagod pero sulit naman,I had a realization moment and me time. I was able to released all the stress and sadness I had during that time, The sea of clouds viewing is amazing, “WOW ang ganda” – Like every individual, this mountain has its own beauty to offer,  and flaws. Its up to you how you will appreciate  it.

How to get there :

You have two options in terms of route,:

  • Ride a van or jeepney in front of Starmall (Shaw), fare is Php 70.00 with a 1 1/2 hrs. travel time. Once you arrived in Tanay Market, ride another jeepney bound for Sampaloc then drop off at Batangasan. Lastly, ride a tricycle going to registration area in Brgy. Cayabu (Php 100.oo per group of 4 with additional 30 mins. travel time).
  •  Ride a jeepney (Php 24.00) or van (Php 35.00) in Cubao (Gateway/ Puregold) going to Cogeo Gate 2 (Antipolo), 1 hr. travel time. Once in Cogeo, ride a jeepney going to Sampaloc and tell the driver to drop you off at Batangasan/Batangas, fare is Php 42.00 (1 hr.) Ride a tricycle going to Brgy. Cayabu and drop off at registration area, fare is Php 200.00 per group of 4 persons/fixed rate.
  • Via private car : Travel time 1hr via Cogeo – Brgy. Cayabu – Ask locals if you are lost – yup,kase lumampas kami… 😀

Note: Last trip via public vehicle
Cogeo (gate2) to (Sampaloc) Batangasan – 7:30 pm
Batangasan to Cogeo Gate 2 – 6:30 pm
Tour Guide and Rates :
Tour Guide : 1 is to 5pax – 500php Day Hike – 1200php Overnight
Registration Fee : 40php per head.
